  • Overview

    The Assistant Site Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor in planning, preparing, implementing, and supervising activities for the children at the site. In the absence of the Site Supervisor, the Assistant Site Supervisor will assume all duties of the Site Supervisor. She/he is also responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor with the site environment, communicating with parents and students, supervising staff and students. The Assistant Site Supervisor must also demonstrate a commitment to our YMCA philosophy and core values (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility).



    • Be responsible for the health and safety of the children in our program at all times.
    • Ensure that the children are released only to the custodial parent/guardian or person authorized by the custodial parent/guardian.
    • Ensure that children are signed-in/signed-out properly on a daily basis.
    • Assist Site Supervisor in preparation and implementation of all activities.
    • Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
    • Meet the individual and group needs of the children.
    • Supervise children during play as well as during quiet homework time.
    • Understand and implement emergency procedures of your site. Be familiar with resources such as emergency cards, medical forms and allergy lists.
    • Behave as a role model demonstrating YMCA philosophy and values.
    • Supervise proper clean-up by ensuring that games/toys put away, tables are washed and disinfected.
    • Maintain punctuality, good attendance and appropriate attire.
    • Report any suspected child abuse to Site Supervisor/School Age Director. Document as necessary.
    • Attend all staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
    • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times with children, parents, co-workers, school personnel, and community.
    • Address all parental and behavioral concerns with the Site Supervisor.
    • Report any accidents or physical concerns to Site Supervisor. Document as necessary.


     Assume and perform all other duties deemed necessary by the Site Supervisor, School Age Director, and/or The Community YMCA Administration

    • The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must have a high school diploma and at least 1 year experience working with school-age children. 
    • Incumbent must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive toward the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to young children
    • Incumbent should be mature, responsible and organized. 
    • Assistant Site Supervisor must also have CPR/First Aid/Epi-pen certification; or acquire within 90 days.
