Overview

The Site Aide is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor and/or Assistant Site Supervisor in planning, preparing, implementing, and supervising activities for the children at the afterschool site.  Openings at school sites throughout Monmouth County.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation and implementation of all activities. 
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Meet the individual and group needs of the children.
  • Assist Site Supervisor/Assistant Site Supervisor in supervising children during play as well as during quiet homework time.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures, as well as resources such as emergency cards, medical forms and allergy lists.
  • Behave as a role model illustrating YMCA philosophy and values.
  • Proper clean-up such as games/toys put away, tables washed and disinfected.
  • Maintain punctuality, good attendance and appropriate attire.
  • Report any suspected child abuse to Site Supervisor/School Age Director. Document as necessary.
  • Attend mandatory trainings.
  • Maintain positive rapport with school personnel.
  • Direct all parental questions/concerns to the Site Supervisor.
  • Report any accidents or physical concerns to Site Supervisor.
  • Assume and perform other duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the Site Supervisor/School Age Director.

Qualifications

The incumbent must be at least 16 years of age with a high school education and have at least 1 year of experience working with school-age children. The incumbent must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive toward the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, be mature, be responsible, be organized, act as a role model for the children, and demonstrate a commitment to the YMCA philosophy and core values (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility).

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid.
  • Ability to see with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
  • Ability to lift and carry children in an emergency, as well as lift and move classroom furniture.
  • Ability to use arms, legs, and feet to accomplish the job.
  • Ability to evacuate the building during emergencies. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions as well.
