  • Overview

    Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, and the Lead Senior Counselor, the Summer Camp Counselor will give leadership to the implementation of summer camp for the summer camp season as determined by the Program Coordinator

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the Lead Counselor  in the implementation of the summer camp program.
    • Use leadership skills to ensure proper supervision and safety of campers.
    • Attend staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary.
    • Relate to parents/guardians involved in aforementioned programs.
    • Utilizes good communication skills with parents, caregivers and staff to effectively implement all camp activities, and operate as a team player to provide service excellence.
    • Embrace the mission and values of the YMCA.
    • Exercise competent and good judgment in all matters within the scope of his/her responsibilities and interpretation of The Community YMCA mission.
    • Serve as a role model and exhibit professional behavior at all times with members, staff, and volunteers. 
    • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Complete required abuse risk management training. Follow mandated abuse reporting procedures, including reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

    Qualifications

    The candidate must be at least 16 years of age. Candidate will be a positive role model for a healthy lifestyle, encouraging health and wellness to members and constituents.

     

    The candidate should have experience working with youth. Likewise, the candidate should have good recreational skills and be able to utilize recreation as a tool in developing YMCA character values
