Overview

Under the supervision of the School-Age Director, the part-time bus driver shall perform the transportation duties for the Child Achievement program bus trips.

Responsibilities

  1. Drive bus safely according to YMCA policies and State laws.
  2. Drive and comply with all traffic regulations in order to operate the bus safely and in a courteous manner.
  3. Report delays, accidents, and other traffic or transportation issues using the YMCA designated cell phone
  4. Must conduct the safety check before and after each trip - checking condition of vehicle’s tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, etc. and ensure the vehicle is in good working order.
  5. Report any safety conditions or repairs to supervisor immediately.
  6. Pick up and drop off students at their scheduled designations, following scheduled times.
  7. Conduct periodic safety/evacuation drills in coordination with the program director.
  8. Promote safety at all times, keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
  9. Communicate regularly with other staff members, supervisor, and fleet manager.

10.Keep bus interior clean for passengers

Qualifications

The incumbent must be at least 21 years of age; possess a NJ State Driver’s License (CDL class B or C with a passenger endorsement) in order to drive our YMCA mini-bus; exceptional driving record and at least 3 years of experience driving a school bus; experience working with children; have an understanding of all bus procedures; as well as a CPR/First Aid certification or acquire within 3 months of hire.

Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid
  2. Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
  3. Ability to see with or without corrective lenses
  4. Ability to match or detect differences in colors, including shades or color and brightness.
  5. Ability to bend, sit, and lift.
