Youth and Teen Zone Supervisor

Under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Youth/ Teen Zone supervisor will ensure that all policies and safety guidelines are adhered to by members and guests of The Community YMCA. The candidate should have working experience with children as well as good recreational skills.


  • Remain in the Youth/ Teen Zone at all times during your shift.
  • Ensure children 8 and 9 are signed in by a parent and any children under 8 are supervised by a parent.
  • If you as the supervisor cannot make his/her shift, they must notify a direct supervisor immediately. They must verbally speak with a supervisor to confirm, messages are not acceptable.
  • The use of a personal cell phone while on duty is not permitted either to make or call or send a text message.
  • Room must be kept neat and orderly, room is to be cleaned in the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Ensuring that Youth/ Teen Zone supervisors are recognizable to CYMCA members and guests, they are to wear their staff shirts and name tags at all times
  • Youth/ Teen Zone supervisors should circulate throughout the room to ensure that all rules are being followed.
  • Conduct periodic checks to ensure that all participants have signed in log book.
  • Ensure that no food or drinks (except water bottles) are brought into the community.
  • Supervisor must be sure that all persons entering the room sign in Youth/Teen Zone and sign for computer usage
  • Foul or abusive language is not allowed in the building. Youth/Teen Zone supervisors must speak to anyone not following this rule.       If the problem continues, the person must be asked to leave the building.
  • Youth/ Zone Staff must monitor computers, and ask any people on websites deemed inappropriate to close website
  • Staff must monitor and assist members with operating all interactive games, weights, and cardio equipment


Individual must have good social skills, as well as experience working with children. They must be positive, friendly, well spoken, outgoing and practice proper customer service at all times.
