  • Overview

    Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Lead Camp Counselor will give leadership to the implementation of summer camp for the camp season in Red Bank, providing a safe and quality experience for all participants.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the implementation of the summer camp program curriculum.
    • Use leadership skills to ensure proper supervision and safety of campers.
    • Attend staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary.
    • Provide appropriate and intentional interactions with campers, camp staff and other YMCA staff
    • Utilizes good communication skills with parents, caregivers and staff to effectively implement all camp activities, and operate as a team player to provide service excellence.
    • Embrace the mission and values of the YMCA.
    • Exercise competent and good judgment in all matters within the scope of his/her responsibilities and interpretation of The Community YMCA mission.
    • Serve as a Role Model and exhibit professional behavior at all times with members, staff, and volunteers.
    • Create and implement daily curriculums for campers to participate in.
    • Oversee Jr Camp Counselors to insure appropriate behavior during camp activities.
    • Responsible for filling out and relaying all incident/accident reports to Program Coordinator.

    Qualifications

    The candidate will be at least 18 years of age, have previous experience working with children.

    The candidate will be a positive role model for a healthy lifestyle, encouraging health and wellness to members and constituents.

    The candidate should have good recreational skills and be able to utilize recreation as a tool in developing YMCA character values.

     

    Trainings Required:

    CPR, AED, Oxygen Certification (within 30 days)

    First Aid Certification

    Blood borne Pathogen Training

    YMCA Child Abuse Prevention

    Other camp trainings as assigned
