  • Overview

    Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, and the Lead Counselor, the Summer Camp Counselor will provide supervision to campers, and the implementation of summer camp curriculum for the Red Bank camp season, as determined by the Program Coordinator.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the Lead counselor and supervisor in the implementation of the summer camp program activities and curriculum designed.
    • Use leadership skills to ensure proper supervision and safety of campers.
    • Attend staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary.
    • Provide appropriate and intentional interactions with campers, camp staff and other YMCA staff
    • Utilizes good communication skills with parents, caregivers and staff to effectively implement all camp activities, and operate as a team player to provide service excellence.
    • Embrace the mission and values of the YMCA.
    • Exercise competent and good judgment in all matters within the scope of his/her responsibilities and interpretation of The Community YMCA mission.
    • Serve as a Role Model and exhibit professional behavior at all times with members, staff, and volunteers.
    • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
    • Complete required abuse risk management training. Follow mandated abuse reportin

    Qualifications

    The candidate must be at least 16 years of age and demonstrate a positive role model for a healthy lifestyle, encouraging health and wellness to members and constituents.

     

    The candidate should have experience working with youth. Likewise, the candidate should have good recreational skills and be able to utilize recreation as a tool in developing YMCA character values.

     

     

    Trainings Required:

    CPR, AED, Oxygen Certification (within 30 days)

    First Aid Certification

    Blood borne Pathogen Training

    YMCA Child Abuse Prevention

    Other camp trainings as assigned
