  • Overview

    The Special Events Coordinator plans and implements the organization’s annual events including the Annual Benefit, Spring Golf Tournament, and an annual donor recognition event. Working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and vendors the Special Events Coordinator will help produce memorable events that highlight the Y’s charitable mission and meet the organization’s financial goals and objectives.

    Responsibilities

    • Organize and manage event details such as décor, catering, contracts, and entertainment.
    • Collaborate with Director of Marketing to promote and publicize the events.
    • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations.
    • Specify staff and volunteer requirements and coordinate their activities
    • Attend event committee meetings.
    • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event days.
    • Assist with post-event evaluations and report on outcomes.

    Qualifications

    Education Four-year college degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.

    Experience

      • Proven experience as an events planner with nonprofit experience
      • Excellent time management and communications skills
      • Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed.
      • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
      • MS Office proficiency
