  • Overview

    Under direct supervision of the Associate Sports and Camp Director the instructor must provide knowledge in specific area or sport. The Instructor must provide a safe and friendly environment. They must also be able to have control over the program they are running.

    Responsibilities

    1. The Instructor must arrive least 15 minutes prior to the program beginning.
    2. They must take out any necessary equipment or materials for the class and set equipment up in the area where the program is taking place.
    3. They will greet any parents and children arriving at class.
    4. They will take daily attendance at the program
    5. Review all rules and policies with the program participants.
    6. Follow the class curriculum.
    7. Actively instruct participants on specific sport or activity during the program.
    8. Monitor all activities during program stressing good sportsmanship and fair play
    9. Upon completion of the program, make sure all participants are picked up and leave safely with a parent or guardian.
    10. Clean up the area that the program took place and place all material back into closets or storage area.

    Qualifications

    The candidate should have experience working with youth. Likewise, the candidate should have good recreational skills and be able to utilize recreation as a tool in developing YMCA character values.
